Written is a direct-to-reader publishing platform for authors to monetize any writing and keep up to 90% of every sale, paid instantly. We’re building a community of independent writers and we’re looking for a community manager to help us bring it to life.
About the role
You’ll be the first point of contact for Written’s growing author community — primarily on Discord, with additional ownership areas and room to expand to other channels.
This is an early-stage role at a startup, which means you’ll have real ownership and the opportunity to shape what community initiatives look like at Written from the ground up.
This is a part-time, contract role with room to grow.
What you’ll do
- Manage and grow the Written Discord — keeping it active, welcoming, worth showing up to
- Create and run community programming: writing challenges, AMAs, author spotlights, discussions
- Engage with authors directly — answer questions, surface feedback, make people feel seen
- Identify and nurture the most active community members as potential ambassadors
- Track relevant discussions on social media (X, Instagram, Linkedin) and interact from Written’s accounts
- Work closely with the marketing team to align community activity with platform launches and content
Who you are
- You’re a writer or deeply embedded in writing communities — you understand what authors need and how they talk
- You’ve worked at a startup or in an early-stage environment and are comfortable with a fast-moving, flexible environment
- You’re a natural community builder — online spaces feel alive when you’re in them
- You’re active on BookTok, Instagram, or other author-creator platforms
- You’re comfortable being on camera and hosting community activations
- US-based or can work US hours
